Can a record label trademark your stage name?

I am signed to a record label in which I have recorded songs and promoted under my stage name. Now because of a personal dispute with one of the now label heads, he has informed me that he has copyrighted my stage name and that I need to remove all of my music and stop using the name. From my understanding, you cannot copyright a name. You have to get a trademark. But is this legal?

    Oh wow!
I’m not to familiar with this situation, but it doesn’t sound legal.
If you already recorded songs using that name, then I don’t they can do that.
