What’s the best way to get alerts on music news about my favorite bands?

I would like to follow my favorite groups without having to check news on each of them every so often. I want to get alerts by email weekly when news about concerts, albums, and evens are announced. I did a search on google but found no such site.
I tried MTV.com, but apparently you need a Virgin Mobile phone to get alerts.
Here’s a list of some of the groups I’d like to track.

ok so lets take a few of the greats of all time. Beethoven, Mozart, and Paganini. These composers were there during the 1600 and 1700 roughly. Now when u go to stores you can find Music CDs of these artists. I was wondering …. HOW?? I mean they didnt have any recording devices at those times right? So how did they record the original artists works ?

Why do people think that record sales say anything about an artists talent?

It doesn’t take a look at Talib Kweli, one of the best rappers by far he sold only 60, 000 in one week. But does that mean he’s a bad rapper? No. Same with Nas he doesn’t come close to selling a million but he’s the best rapper out by far.

If anything Record sales show the incompetence of the American people when it comes to hip-hop.

I have about 300 vinyl records from the 1960s-1980s. Is $300 a good price to expect?
