I would love to find out what the best route is in submitting sample demos to big time record labels such as Columbia, Geffen, AM, and others of the like?

Is there a specific mailing address that it should be sent to?

Any help would be appreciated.
Hehe. This question is not PERSONALLY for me. I am in no way, shape or form, in the position or talent caliber, to even phathom that I would be chosen by such popular Record labels. Though I love to sing, Its only done on a very, very. very amateur level, like sub karaoke. lol. So for myself, getting a record deal is not any where in the career horizon. hehe.

But I am asking on behalf of a wonderful friend who I feel deserves a listen. But my friend is a little apprehensive about the process so I wanted to do a lil research.

I’ve looked on different sites and, they don’t say anything.

I have to pay to record a demo– if so how much?

Where would I go to record one in Manhattan, NY?

Can I sing it a cappella?

Does it have to be a song that I have written?

Can it be snippets of various song styles or does it have to be one song?

The record labels never let you send demos, but its told that you have to send demos to labels…

How do you send in a demo to a record label?
Do I need a agent to represent me to it and if so where are some good websites where I can find an agent?
Do I just send in the demo and if I do ( just by myself w/o an agent) how long will it take to get a reply?
Also, what are some good labels to send to I’m recording like Pop&Rock type of music.
