I have been singing locally and in cafe’s and stuff.

But can anyone give me steps (shortcut way) on how to get signed to a record label?

If you are not rich nor poor. Just normal.

I mean i have talent, money (not a lot, but enough), umm and i need to get signed to a record label??

Now because of a personal dispute with one of the now label heads, he has informed me that he has copyrighted my stage name and that I need to remove all of my music and stop using the name. From my understanding, you cannot copyright a name. You have to get a trademark. But is this legal?

Usually the actual recording will cost more than the sales revenue so there is no spare money to pay for other things. Without considering a record label as an option (we want to go it alone, we don’t believe in labels) what other ideas do people have for generating enough money for the primary purpose of funding a trip to play gigs abroad?
