Specifically, looking for English speaking/singing pop and rock recording artists who currently enjoy great popularity with 16-to-20-year-olds in India, Thailand, and China. Hip-hop and R&B artists as well. Any links you can provide with evidence would be great. Thanks for your help.
EDIT: Just to be clear, I’m looking for artists that are popular right now. If they are older acts, like Metallica, that’s fine, as long as they are still on the cutting edge.

in the 17-25 age group?

I mean, they didn’t go to music school or anything and then there are lots of people who spend so much money getting a music degree and they never become famous musicians.

not saying it’s me but let’s say I do songwriting and producing and I have a meet with some popular artists to record a song. i’m shy to sing to them. i don’t really like performing. i’m excited because if my song sells then i will collect a lot of money from their performances. i will also be entitled to airplay, advertising, itunes,etc. royalties
i’m getting paid an advance. a few thousand since i’m not established yet.

My number one would be Britney Spears.
