I know it can be difficult and it doesn’t happen overnight. You need to get noticed first, to get signed or get “important” for producersss..

I have been singing locally and in cafe’s and stuff.

But can anyone give me steps (shortcut way) on how to get signed to a record label?

If you are not rich nor poor. Just normal.

I mean i have talent, money (not a lot, but enough), umm and i need to get signed to a record label??

I am signed to a record label in which I have recorded songs and promoted under my stage name. Now because of a personal dispute with one of the now label heads, he has informed me that he has copyrighted my stage name and that I need to remove all of my music and stop using the name. From my understanding, you cannot copyright a name. You have to get a trademark. But is this legal?

We’re only in high school, so we don’t know that much. Do we find out what kind of music a record label is by listening to its artists?

We don’t want to send our mainstream-rock type stuff to a metal label.

I want to work at a record label & i don’t know exactly which college would be the best choice and i don’t know what i should study when im in college to help me get a job at a label.

What does the producer do for the artist? What does the artist have to do, still write their own songs, or does the record label write your songs, what about the beats, money deals?

Money can be generated by the artist through music sales but this revenue is never going to be very high until the band has loads of fans! Usually the actual recording will cost more than the sales revenue so there is no spare money to pay for other things. Without considering a record label as an option (we want to go it alone, we don’t believe in labels) what other ideas do people have for generating enough money for the primary purpose of funding a trip to play gigs abroad?

Are there any steps to take in order to record my 12″ single vinyl records to an IPod?

How do you send in a demo to a record label?
Do I need a agent to represent me to it and if so where are some good websites where I can find an agent?
Do I just send in the demo and if I do ( just by myself w/o an agent) how long will it take to get a reply?

I know it’s possible to get signed to a indie record label. I remember searching through bands that are signed to certain labels and knowing I’m simply better then them. I would not want to be signed to a major record label simply because of the way the music scene is today. I know it’s possible to make a living off of playing music. Someone tell me some places to go.

I am a fan of MJ. Since Michael Jackson is not signed to a record label, has he ever considered of starting his own record label to put out his music? Having his own record label will give him the freedom to record many songs and release new music if he wanted too.
