Please give opinions on this…it was announced a couple days ago, that Radiohead have decided to release their new album, called “In Rainbows”, on just their website…and here’s the kicker…it costs WHATEVER YOU WANT IT to cost. The only mandatory fee is 90 cents for the credit card transaction. Or if you feel they deserve it, you can pay 100 dollars for it. They’re leaving it up to their fans, to decide what their music is worth to them. Obviously, this is REALLY making the big record companies mad, because they’re worried it will make their mandatory-priced 20 dollar cd’s seem overpriced. But here’s the funny thing; early reports are that fans are paying, on average, about 15 dollars…almost full cost for a storebought cd. So the question is- regardless of what you think of Radiohead specifically- what do you think of their IDEA? They’re basically trusting their fans, to pay whatever they think is fair. Like the idea? Dislike? Think it’s suicide? Or brilliant?

In 40 years do you think CD’s will be outdated? Kind of like what vinyl records are now?

Could you imagine bands like Incubus and Kings of Leon being considered classic rock?

It doesn’t take a look at Talib Kweli, one of the best rappers by far he sold only 60, 000 in one week. But does that mean he’s a bad rapper? No. Same with Nas he doesn’t come close to selling a million but he’s the best rapper out by far.

If anything Record sales show the incompetence of the American people when it comes to hip-hop.

I think the MTV tribute to Michael Jackson was weak. The tribute was too short. Janet didn’t deliver either. It was such a crappy tribute to the artist (MJ) who made MTV by creating the concept of real music video. And maybe Janet was too emotional to really deliver, but her performance left a lot to be desired.
