What are some ways you can get signed to a record label?

I know it’s possible to get signed to a indie record label. I remember searching through bands that are signed to certain labels and knowing I’m simply better then them. I would not want to be signed to a major record label simply because of the way the music scene is today. I know it’s possible to make a living off of playing music. Someone tell me some places to go.

I’m curious. I’d like to hear your music. You’re already answering your own question. You’re putting yourself out there for people to know you exist and you believe in your music. Now the variable is if a large demographic will like your music enough to pay money for it. This is what any label must be convinced of before they will invest in you. Remember, indie or major, everyone wants to make money. In order to be attractive to a label, you usually need to have established a local fan base. Have been featured in local press. Have a demo. Etc. If this is you then you can find labels you want to sign to and invite a/r to see one of your shows. If you can present yourself as a pollished act that has great songs and at least a potential hit….if your stage performance is compelling, origional, and heartfelt, you have a good chance. Bottom line, get a/r to your shows and rock out!
I am a producer. Send me a link to your music!

Ok well first off i personally would like to be signed by a hugh major label and become really famous that it’s too much for me to handle…. ( crazy i know).. but a small indie label is really not gonna make u famous or make u money.. major label’s are for the fame…… indie is better if you actually have the passion for playing music and that’s all u wanna do… it’s all about luck… and it’s all about talent… just get people to see you..youtube video’s work…

    1. You must have good music. This may seem pretty obvious, but you’d be surprised how many bands never get signed and don’t understand that this is the reason. We’re not talking about “good” as in taste (which is great news for the Backstreet Boys). We mean “good” in the sense of talent and experience.

    2. You must look “singable.” No one will want to sign you unless you’re going to make them money. As such, you and your band must be confident, experienced, dedicated, and have it together (in other words, you must look like you will bring in money). Unless you’re the next Beatles, there are a thousand other bands like you – so make yourself stand out from the rest by being professional from the beginning.

    3. You must have a professional-looking demo package. In the music industry, image and first impressions are the name of the game; for the unsigned band, your demo package is the first (and usually only) impression a record label will have of you and your music. As a result, it should be as attractive, informative, and to-the-point as possible.
